Derek was born in Maryhill, near his beloved Partick Thistle Football Club.  He now lives in Motherwell with his six year old son who thinks “The Jags” are rubbish!

Derek studied for an Honours degree in Psychology at Strathclyde University before going on to study Leisure and Recreation at Crammond College, Edinburgh.

Derek is currently employed as a Programme Manager with Momentum Scotland and run their Inclusive project in the East End of Glasgow.  The Inclusive project offers disabled people a barrier free learning environment and the opportunity to update their computing and core personal skills.

I have always worked in the voluntary sector and have been a youth worker, a support officer in Barlinnie’s infamous special unit and a care worker working with older people among other things.

When I’m not working I love to spend time with my six year old son and go to my local bar for the odd glass of wine.
