Since May 2006, Tressa has been the first Director of Glasgow Disability Alliance. Previous to this she worked in social work during the 1990s running a specialist project around disability rights and was also Manager of a community forum which was established and developed with local people over 5 years, in the Gorbals area of Glasgow.
Much of Tressa’s work over the last 15 years has been around engaging, involving and supporting disabled people using community development methods and approaches.
Tressa has been Director on a number of Boards led by disabled people including, Glasgow Disability Alliance, Empower Scotland and currently Inclusion Scotland as well as Glasgow Equalities Partnership. She has acted and continues to act as an advisor on a number of working /task groups to influence the development of effective disability equality policies, strategies and practices e.g. Communities Scotland, Scottish Parliament, Local Authority, Health Authorities and local colleges.
